Wisconsin Man Kills Girlfriend, Her Friend After They Were Caught Having Sex

Richard Sotka was arrested for killing both of his girlfriend and her friend after he caught them having sex. Sotka stated he felt humiliated, hence, killing both women.

A criminal complaint stated that Richard Sotka, 48, has come home in the Elkay Lane duplex when he found his girlfriend and her friend engaging in a sexual activity. The girlfriend was identified as Rhonda Cegelski, 58, and from Green Bay, Wisconsin. On the other hand, the friend was identified as Paula O’Connor, 53, and from Bellevue.

According to an article in the Fox News, Sotka told the authorities he felt humiliated by the act, hence, killing both women. Reportedly, Sotka also cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet, tossed it in a ditch along the Interstate 41 in southern Brown County, and drove to Arkansas, thereafter. Authorities stated they used the OnStar system in Sotka’s truck to track him down in that state.

Charges the Suspect Faced

According to Hurley, on January 29, the women were discovered dead with stab wounds in the duplex in Green Bay’s east side. Sotka was arrested on the same day and faced charges in Brown County, Wisconsin. The charges Sotka faced were two counts of domestic abuse, first-degree intentional homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon, and bail jumping. If convicted of the homicide, Sotka will carry a life in prison sentence.

Reports say Sotka had been previously ordered to wear the monitoring device he tossed in a ditch as part of his bond in Oconto County. There, Sotka has also faced charges of stalking and violating a restraining order. To date, Sotka is being held in the Mississippi County Jail in Arkansas. However, he has not appeared in court due to the severe weather in Arkansas.
