The City of Midland is reminding property owners that the last day to pay Winter 2022 taxes without penalty is February 14th, 2023. Payments can be made in cash or check at the City Treasurer’s Office, and after-hours payments can be placed in a secure drop box located inside the main entrance of City Hall. However, it’s important to note that credit cards are not accepted as a form of payment, according to a report by daily news on January 21, 2023.
Those who have signed up for the city’s auto-pay service will have the billed amount of their taxes automatically withdrawn from their chosen bank account on February 14th, 2023. Payments received after this date will have a 4% penalty applied to the remaining balance. Property owners who have not received a winter tax notice should contact the City Treasurer’s Office.
It’s Important to note that the City of Midland bills and collects winter taxes on behalf of other local governments and school districts as a service to those entities. The winter tax bill does not include a tax levy for the city. The total winter millage rate on principal residence property in the City of Midland, within the Midland Public Schools District is 9.2719 mills; the total on non-principal residence property is 18.0328 mills.
