Local News in Abington Township: Daughter’s Alleged Chainsaw Rampage Claims Lives of her Parents

A Pennsylvania woman, Verity Beck, has been arrested for the murder of her parents after their bodies were discovered in their home in Abington Township on Tuesday night. District Attorney Kevin Steele stated that the autopsies were not easy to conduct as the perpetrator, Verity, had used a chainsaw to dismember her parents’ bodies and had placed them in trash bags and covered them in two different trash cans, according to a report by Fox News on January 19, 2023.

Police were alerted to the situation when a family member reported not having seen or heard from the couple in over a week. When officers entered the home, they found one deceased person wrapped in a white sheet and signs of a second deceased person inside the home, both of whom were in various stages of dismemberment. The chainsaw was found near one of the bodies. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head, and the case has been ruled a homicide, according to Fox News.

Verity Beck, who lived in the home, is now being held without bail on charges of first- and third-degree murder, as reported by 6 ABC on January 19, 2002. The motive for the killings is not immediately clear, but Beck’s brother reported that Verity had said things at home had “been bad.” Evidence of an attempted break-in was found in the home. The killings are believed to have happened over a period of time, and the bodies may have been decomposing for some time. The smell of decomposition was present in the house when the police arrived.
