Two gunmen carried out a brutal attack on a home in Tulare County, Central California, early Monday, where they killed six people, including a 16-year-old mother and her 10-month-old baby. The authorities believe that the attack was gang-related and targeted. “We do not believe that this was a random act of violence,” said Sheriff Mike Boudreaux of Tulare County. “We believe that this was very targeted. “This was very personal, and we also believe that it was a message being sent,” according to a report by the New York Times on January 16, 2023.

The police are searching for at least two male suspects In the shooting incident, and they believe that the crime is connected to gang activity. Sheriff Boudreaux also mentioned that his office executed a search warrant at the property last week and found guns, marijuana, and methamphetamine. He believes the attack is connected to a drug cartel. According to Sheriff Boudreaux, the suspects in the case were not ordinary low-level gang members, but rather individuals with experience in murder, as indicated by the “manner and swiftness” of the killings.

Based on an interview report by Fox News on January 17, 2023, two other women survived by hiding in a trailer home. They told the authorities that people in the home had seen the intruders sneaking onto the property on surveillance cameras, but it was too late to do anything. Tulare County authorities have made several arrests in connection with drug trafficking in recent years. However, a county supervisor, Eddie Valero, stated that such acts of violence, particularly involving infants, children, and young adults, are not acceptable in their communities. He added that the county, along with its law enforcement, will continue to take active measures to see greater safety.
