In early October, the program started distributing payments to the residents via direct deposit. Debit cards, on the other hand, were distributed a month later. For those who changed their banking information from direct deposits to debit cards, the last batch was distributed starting on December 17 and will continue until January 14 next year.
Who is eligible for these relief payments?
According to The Modesto Bee, to be eligible, the recipient must have been a resident of California for at least six months in 2020 and still a resident of the state when the payment was distributed. They must have met the adjusted gross income limits of California and filed their 2020 tax returns by October 15, 2021. Lastly, they must have not been claimed as a dependent in 2020. Individual filers must earn an income of not more than $75,000 to receive full payment. If they earn up to $250,000, they will receive only some of the payment. On the other hand, joint filers or heads of households must earn an income of not more than $500,000 to receive some payment too.
