Police Car Set On Fire In Florida

On December 7, Anthony Thomas Tarduno was arrested for allegedly setting a sheriff’s police car on fire. According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Tarduno claimed he was “intoxicated” at that time. This incident happened around 5 p.m. when Tarduno exited a bar in Spring Gill, Florida after drinking. While he was walking, Tarduno saw the police car and allegedly decided to just set it on fire. Tarduno got a bag of trash from a dumpster, placed it under the police car, and set the trash on fire. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the bag of trash was placed directly under the gas tank. As a result, the car suffered severe damage.

Tarduno Says He “Felt Bad”

After setting the police car on fire, Tarduno reportedly returned to the bar. However, Tarduno went back to the crime scene to admit his crimes because he “felt bad”. Tarduno explained his actions by claiming that he does “stupid things” when he’s “intoxicated”. He also admitted that he was a “professional arsonist” and has been charged with similar crimes before. However, Tarduno claimed that he didn’t target that certain police car and would have set fire to any car around the area. In the end, Tarduno was convicted of two counts of arson. His bond was set at $30,000, as reported by Sabes.
