Texas Gov. Greg Abbott confirmed that an amount of $391 one-time payment will be sent to the P-EBT cards this month to each eligible child.
$391 One-Time Payment
Many Texans still continue to face the negative impact of the pandemic and the soaring inflation rate that cause the increase in basic commodities. To address this problem, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that an amount of $391 relief check will be given to each Texan with an eligible child this month.
This is a one-time payment because the state was not able to distribute the Summer Pandemic- Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT). Moreover, this program is also expanded because not only those who were directly affected by COVID-19 can receive this, but also those who did not, according to an article published in Texas Border Business.
Gov. Greg Abbott and HHSC Released Statements
Gov. Greg Abbott said, “The State of Texas continues working to ensure families and children impacted by school closures have access to nutritious meals. I thank HHSC and TEA for working with the USDA to provide these food benefits for Texas families across the state.”
Additionally, HHSC also said, “We’re proud to be supporting families in Texas so they can provide food to their children. Being well-nourished allows children to focus on learning rather than where their next meal will come from.”
