St. Petersburg Police: Teacher Charged Having Sexual Relation with 16-Year Old Student

According to authorities dealing with a case of an older man engaging in carnal relation with a minor.

The teacher identified as Connor Westrate, 31, was charged by St. Petersburg police for having sex with a 16-year-old student; as records demonstrate.

To be exact the police say he is actively engaging in carnal activity with a minor girl, reported Tampa Bay.

The man was arrest at 8:30 p.m. last Friday for having illegal sex with a minor female as mentioned in the arrest affidavit. Details reveal that Westrate was familiar with the minor he was with.

Statements by the authorities

A comment was released by Isabel Mascareñas, a spokesperson who represented the Pinellas County school district. She added that the man was not a teacher for the school and gave more info to that effect.

Also, for the information of all concerned the information the MYcroSchool is a public charter school located in St. Petersburg.

When the story was released; there was a voicemail and email that requested comment from the institution but from Monday no answer was given.

As said by Westrate’s arrest affidavit, he encountered the 16-year-old girl in a hotel downtown St. Petersburg and engaged in sexual activity.

Westrate told officers when he was read his Miranda rights that he was never told that she was a 16-year-old instead of 18 as assumed, the court document stated that

The teacher was arrested and later booked into the Pinellas Correctional Facility.

He has been released upon posting a $10,000 bail on that charge of sex with a 16-year-old, and a $2,000 bail on an unconnected misdemeanor charge of failing to show up to court for petit theft in Orange County.
