Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 – The world’s largest steam locomotive.

The world’s largest steam locomotive, Big Boy, is coming back to Houston and will be on public display this weekend, as part of a 32-state tour.

Trains are intrinsically linked to Houston’s history and have played a huge role in the city’s development and design. That’s one reason why our official city flag features a locomotive.

In the audio above, Houston Matters producer Brenda Valdivia learns more about the history of trains in Houston from Doug Weiskopf, author of Rails Around Houston, and Mister McKinney, founder of Mister McKinney’s Historic Houston, and board member of the Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park.
