Each month, Houston Matters goes to the dogs… and cats, as we welcome your questions about the care and feeding of your canine and feline friends, for veterinarian Dr. Lori Teller from the Meyerland Animal Clinic and Texas A&M University.
Before diving into our latest round of dog and cat care questions, Dr. Teller discusses feline infectious peritonitis, or FIP, which has long been a deadly virus for cats. She tells us what it is, signs and symptoms, and developments surrounding diagnosis and treatment.
Then, among this month’s questions:
Dr. Teller offers advice for Suzy in Cypress, who wants to know where to find a good pet nutritionist.
Dana from Southeast Houston seeks advice for her cat who suffers from chronic constipation.
Dr. Teller offers suggestions to Ronnie in Pasadena for options for affordable spaying and neutering.
And Ian in West Houston seeks advice for how best to introduce a formerly feral cat he and others have cared for into his home, and in particular, to his sometimes too-engaged family dog.
Also in the audio above, Dr. Teller dispenses some advice about protecting your furry companions from Halloween candy they shouldn’t eat.
