Red Hill Fuel Removal Completed
Navy Leader Safety Oversight
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the Department of Defense has finished taking out fuel from the Red Hill storage facility in Hawai’i and handed control over to the Navy. This is part of a plan to close the facility safely directed by Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III. Rear Admiral Stephen Barnett now leading the Navy in Hawaii and managing the closure task force will make sure everything is done safely.

Prioritizing Health and Transparency
Secretary Austin wants to make sure people in Hawai’i stay healthy and the environment stays safe. He told Rear Admiral Barnett to keep talking to everyone openly and honestly. The Navy is now in charge of closing Red Hill and they’re working to make sure everything is done properly. They’ll also keep talking to people in Hawai’i to make sure they know what’s happening.
