The CDC recalled more foods due to Listeria contamination according to Seattle Times. These foods, made by Rizo López Foods include cheese, yogurt and salad dressings sold at places like Trader Joe’s. Listeria bacteria come from soil and can make people very sick.

Listeria Prefers Foods with High Water Content

Listeria likes certain foods like soft cheese because they have a lot of water. Symptoms of listeriosis are like having the flu. Most people get better by themselves but some people need to go to the hospital especially older people and pregnant women.

Preventive Measures Against Listeria Infection

To avoid getting sick don’t eat risky foods like soft cheeses. Put food in the fridge quickly after making it. Keep your fridge cold enough as Listeria likes warmer temperatures.
