The Weather Service predicts lingering showers after a weekend of heavy rain and strong winds – that’s the weather in Santa Cruz County. The worst of the stormy weather may be over, but Santa Cruz County residents may expect unstable conditions early in the week and sunshine by the weekend.
Meteorologist and hydrologist Carolina Walbrun noted that the majority of the moisture from the last atmospheric river storm migrated south during the weekend, reducing rainfall.
However, severe winds that reached 64 mph along the coast and 98 mph in the Santa Cruz Mountains made their way. With fallen trees and small slides blocking county-maintained roads, personnel worked hard.
