Families Alerted as Over 675,000 Cans of Baby Formula Face Recall Due to Sepsis and Meningitis Risk
Concerns have been expressed regarding the safety of certain batches of baby formula in light of recent events. Over 675,000 cans may potentially harbor a pathogenic microorganism capable of inducing sepsis or meningitis in infants. In light of this discovery, it is imperative that families who utilize infant formula promptly become informed and implement preventative measures.
Manufacturers have voluntarily recalled Nutramigen LGG stage 1 and stage 2 Hypoallergenic Formula powders after Cronobacter sakazakii was found. This is a germ that can live in dry foods and is naturally found in the environment. The affected products, which are often recommended for babies for special medical reasons, can also be bought without a prescription.
There are risks connected to having Cronobacter sakazakii, including fever and diarrhea, which could get worse and lead to sepsis or meningitis in the worst cases, which is very dangerous for babies’ health. Babies may show warning signs like not eating well, being irritable, having temperature changes, getting jaundice, or breathing and moving in strange ways. These babies need immediate care and attention from their parents and other workers.
