Ration Card New Update: As we all know, Ration cards is an important official documents to every citizen of the India, which is issued by each state government. Ration card enable eligible households to purchase food grains at subsidized prices under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013.
The central government has introduced a renewed program under the ration card system to improve outreach to the economically weaker sections of the population. Ration Card New Update: Expanded List of Essentials
Under the Free Ration Scheme of the Government of India, free ration is given to 90 crore people of the country. These people were previously given free rice. But now due to the new decision of the government, the government will give 9 essential things to the ration card holders.
These items include wheat, pulses, gram, sugar, salt, mustard oil, flour, soybean and spices. The government has taken this decision to improve people’s health and increase the level of nutrition in their food. This will also improve people’s quality of life.

Types of Ration Cards
The ration card system classifies cardholders into several categories:
BPL Card
This card issued only to the households living above the poverty line.
- BPL families receive 10-20 kg of food grains per family for every month at 50% of the economic cost. Subsidized retail prices for a given quantity of wheat, rice, sugar and other products vary from state to state.
- Each state government sets a different rate for each quantity.
APL Card
This card is issued to families with income above the poverty line.
- APL families receive 10-20 kg of food grains per family per month at 100% of the economic cost.
- Subsidized retail prices for specified quantities of rice, wheat, sugar and kerosene.
Annapurna Yojana Card
This card has been issued to poor senior citizens ages above 65 years of age. Beneficiary will get 10 kg of grains per month on this card.
- State governments are said to be issuing these cards to senior citizens who fall under this programme.
Anthiyodaya Anna Yojana Card
This card is issued to extremely poor families.
- These cardholders are entitled to 35 kg of grains per family per month.
- They are entitled to 15 kg of wheat and 20 kg of rice per family per month. They are getting grains at subsidized prices of Rs 3 per kg rice and Rs 2 per kg wheat.
Which documents are required to make a ration card?
- Applicant’s Aadhar Card,
- Bank account passbook of the applicant,
- Applicant’s Income Certificate, Caste Certificate and Residence Certificate,
- Aadhaar card of all the family members,
- active mobile number and
- Passport sized photograph etc.
What qualification is required to get a ration card?
- Applicant should be a native of India,
- No member of the family should be a government employee,
- No member of the family pays income tax,
- In the family, no one should have a three-wheeler etc.
How to Apply for New ration Card Online?
Step 1: First of all, you have to visit your local Food and Supplies Department office or you can also download the application form from official website.
Step 2: Then, fill the New ration Card application form with personal, household, and income details and attach the required documents as asked in the form.
Step 3: After completing the form submit it along with applicable fees to the local rationing office.
Step 4: Then, officials will review and verify your Ration Card application and it may take a few days.
Step 5: After verifying the details of application form, the officials will issue the ration card.
