(NEP 2020) National Education Policy in India
The inception of Gurukuls in India was not solely aimed at imparting education, but also at fostering a sense of brotherhood and harmony among students, ultimately shaping them into effective team players and visionary leaders. As society evolved and became more inclusive, education extended beyond the confines of the Brahman community. Consequently, renowned institutions like Nalanda University, Takshashila, Vikramshila University, and others were established, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds. Presently, India stands out as a premier destination for international students due to its diverse offerings and abundant opportunities.
Globalization of Education
India aims to position itself as a leader in global education, with internationalization being a crucial first step. The NEP 2020 highlights this ambition, focusing on the concept of “Internationalisation at Home.” This policy introduces transformative reforms designed to empower students, educators, and institutions with essential skills and foster a dynamic educational environment for a thriving India.
It acknowledges the pressing need to promote India as a premier destination for international students, offering quality education at competitive prices, thereby reaffirming its role as the Vishwa Guru. To realize this vision, the policy emphasizes enhancing faculty and student mobility, fostering international research partnerships, simplifying admission processes for foreign students, and investigating the feasibility of degree transfers between institutions globally, among other initiatives.
