VA Disability Payments to Increase by 2.63% in December 2024

According to the report of Marca, starting December 1, 2024, VA disability payments will rise by 2.63% due to the latest cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) from the Social Security Administration. The specific new rates will be confirmed in October but veterans can use the preliminary figures to estimate their benefits.

Veterans with lower disability ratings will see starting payments of $175.73 per month for a 10% rating without dependents. Payments will increase to $347.39 for a 20% rating. Veterans with higher ratings will receive even larger amounts. A 30% rating will result in $538.10 per month for veterans alone and up to $1,525.98 for a 60% rating with a spouse. As the disability rating increases, so do the payments.

VA Announces Increased Compensation for Veterans with Dependents

Those with higher ratings will experience more significant increases. For example, a 70% rating will provide a payment of $1,761.42, while a 100% rating will result in $3,836.16 for veterans without spouses. Payments will be even higher for veterans with dependents offering extra support where it’s needed most.

The adjustment also includes increased compensation for veterans whose spouses also receive VA disability benefits and additional increases for those with children. For instance, a veteran with a 30% rating and a child will see their monthly payment rise to $580.18. This additional support is designed to assist veterans with dependents and address their extra financial needs.
