$2,241.91+ VA Disability Rate Increase for 90% Rating Veterans: 2024 COLA Breakdown and Benefits

Starting December 1, 2023, veterans with a 90% disability rating will see increased monthly payments due to a Cost of Living Adjustment.

2024 VA Disability Rates and COLA Increase

According to the report of Marca, starting December 1, 2023, veterans with a 90% disability rating will see a big increase in their monthly pay. This is due to the 2024 VA disability rates, which now include a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) from the Social Security Administration. For a single veteran with a 90% rating, the new base pay will be $2,241.91 per month. This helps veterans keep up with the higher cost of living caused by inflation and rising prices.

Veterans with dependents will get extra money based on their family situation. For example, a veteran with a spouse but no children will now receive $2,428.91 each month. If the veteran has a spouse and one child the monthly pay will be $2,565.91. Veterans also get $93 per child under 18 and $301 per child over 18 who is in school. If the veteran’s spouse needs extra help and they will receive an additional $172 each month.

VA Benefits for High-Disability Veterans

In addition to this financial support veterans with a 90% disability rating have access to other VA benefits. They are in VA Health Care Priority Group 1, which means they get full health care services without any copays. This includes regular check-ups, mental health care, and emergency care at non-VA facilities. These benefits show the VA’s commitment to taking care of both the financial and health needs of veterans.
