According to the report of AS, Montana homeowners can now benefit from a new property tax rebate for the 2023 tax year. Governor Greg Gianforte has introduced a tax relief package offering up to $675 in rebates to qualifying residents. To be eligible, homeowners must live in their Montana home for at least seven months in 2023 and use it as their main residence. This rebate applies to various types of homes including single-family houses, apartments, and mobile homes provided they are not owned by an LLC or corporation and property taxes have been paid.

Montana Homeowners Can Now Apply for Property Tax Rebate

Homeowners can apply for the rebate in two ways starting from August 15, 2024, to October 1, 2024. The fastest method is through the Montana Department of Revenue’s online portal with a processing time of around 30 days. Alternatively, a paper application is available but takes about 90 days to process. If property taxes paid in 2023 are less than $675, residents will receive a refund for the full amount they paid.

This rebate program is a major effort by the state to help homeowners with their property tax expenses. By making the application process easy and providing a significant rebate, Montana aims to support residents and ease the financial strain of rising property taxes. This initiative shows the state’s dedication to helping homeowners manage their costs during challenging times.
