It’s important to note that these amounts correspond to a full month of enrollment. If you start your program partway through a month the VA will prorate your payment based on the number of days you attended. For instance, if your course begins on the 16th of the month you will be paid for the remaining 15 days.
On-the-Job Training and Apprenticeships:
For on-the-job training and apprenticeships the payment rates decrease over time:
- Months 1 to 6: $349.50 per month
- Months 7 to 12: $256.30 per month
- After the first year: $163.10 per month
To receive the full payment you must work at least 120 hours per month.

Furthermore, for distance learning the VA will pay 55% of the established rate for your institution based on the number of lessons you take monthly.
