SSI Recipients to Receive Two Payments in August Due to Scheduling Adjustment

New Gas Stimulus Program Set to Offer Financial Relief Amid Rising Fuel Prices

According to MARCA, in August 2024 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive two payments due to a scheduling adjustment by the Social Security Administration (SSA). The regular payment will be made on August 1, and a second payment will be issued on August 30. This second payment which is intended for September is being released early because September 1 falls on a weekend. This adjustment helps ensure that recipients have their funds available at the beginning of each month. The next payment after the August 30 disbursement will be on October 1.

To address rising fuel prices, the U.S. government is launching a gas stimulus check program to provide financial relief. This program expected to be announced in July 2024 aims to help those struggling with higher energy costs. Details are still being worked out but the program might offer substantial aid similar to state-level programs that provide up to $3,200. To apply individuals need to complete Form 4923-H online by September 30, including receipts for gas purchases and their vehicle identification number (VIN).
