Rent Relief on the Horizon: Nebraska Bill Aims to Help Struggling Renters

Breaking Down the Barriers to Affordable Housing

According to the legislature, Renters in Nebraska might get some help soon. A new bill, called LB14, wants to give renters a tax break. This bill was introduced by Senator Eliot Bostar. He thinks it will help Americans who rent homes or apartments because rent prices have gone up a lot in the past few years.

Senator Bostar says that when people pay high rent, it makes it harder for them to find jobs and make ends meet. He also says that just lowering property taxes won’t fix the problem because landlords will still charge high rents. Erin Feichtinger, who works with the Women’s Fund of Omaha, agrees. She says that the current rental market is very tight, with very few empty apartments available.
