New York Families to Receive One-Time Back-to-School Payment

Kate Breslin, President of the Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy explained that this credit is for families with kids under 17. If a family’s income is over $110,000, they start to lose part of the credit and it completely fades out if income goes up by another $10,000. The amount of money each family gets will depend on how much credit they received last year and they had to file their state tax return by April 15, 2024.

Governor Hochul stressed that families won’t need to do anything to get this payment; it will come automatically. Breslin noted that this money comes at a perfect time for families who need help with back-to-school costs. This payment is a special one-time benefit for this year to provide quick financial help, according to the report of News 10.
