The Illinois Department of Aging and Human Services is offering farm market coupon books to low-income seniors. Each book contains five $10 checks that can be used at participating vendors from July 10 to October 31. The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program aims to improve seniors’ nutrition and health by providing access to fresh produce from local farmers, according to the report of WCIA.

IDs Fresh Produce as Key to Better Health
Eligible seniors (60+, income $2,322 or less for singles, $3,151 or less for couples) can access fresh produce through a program that improves health, especially for those with diabetes and heart disease. Contact the local Area Agency on Aging for more information and to apply on a first-come, first-served basis.
