Kansas ROZ Program Overhauled to Attract Young Talent to Rural Areas
New Eligibility Criteria in Kansas ROZ Program Aimed at Retaining Graduates in Rural Communities
According to Fox4kc, Kansas is updating its Rural Opportunity Zones (ROZ) program to attract more people to rural areas. Led by Lieutenant Governor David Toland, the program targets individuals with at least an associate degree who settle in specific rural locations. Previously applicants had to live elsewhere for five years but now it’s only two years facilitating eligibility for recent graduates.
The ROZ program offers up to $15,000 in student loan repayments for those relocating to designated counties. Updated rules accommodate individuals who lived in dorms during college but intend to return to their rural hometowns after graduation. This adjustment aims to retain skilled individuals in rural Kansas fostering economic and community growth.
