Expansion Of Serviced By The Community Connectors Team

The Community Connectors team, which helps people with mental health and homelessness needs, is expanding to include the former Allerdale council area.

This service by the Community Connectors team links individuals to resources that can improve their well-being, potentially preventing the need for other NHS services.

The Community Connectors team provides support for low-level mental health issues, housing and homelessness, loneliness, benefits and debt problems, digital inclusion, and physical health.

Since April 2022, the service offered by the Community Connectors team has benefited over 500 people. Plans of the Community Connectors team include further expansion to the Carlisle area. Residents can refer themselves to local groups and services through the Joy online directory.

According to a published article by SmartNews, the Community Connectors team’s service initially received funding from the Copeland Community Fund and now also receives finance from the Sellafield Social Impact Fund.

Cumberland Council

The service was previously available in the former Copeland area but now includes the former Allerdale council area with hopes to cover the whole Cumberland Council area in the future.

Community Connectors work one-on-one with residents to access services for issues like mental health, housing, loneliness, and more.
