According to the report of REASON MAGAZINES, Lawmakers in Georgia are getting heat for not making big changes to the film tax credit program even though they know it is not working well. At first they talked about making small changes like making companies invest more money and limiting how many tax credits they can sell. But now they making those changes weaker by letting big studio productions off the hook. This means the big rich productions can still get lots of taxpayer money without any limits.

People are worried because this debate shows that Georgia film tax credits might not be fair or useful. Experts have been saying for a long time that these credits don’t really help Georgia economy. Instead they mostly help big companies many of which are even from Georgia. Some lawmakers want to make bigger changes or even get rid of the program altogether. But others are afraid to upset the big movie companies so nothing much is happening. This leaves everyone wondering if Georgia film incentives are really about helping its people or just giving away money to Hollywood big shots.
