Tennessee Residents’ Opportunity
Tennessee residents have a final opportunity to qualify for tax rebates of up to $10,000 before the Green Power Providers Program ends in 2024.
The program for Tennessee residents offers financial incentives for renewable energy, with multiple payment options available for those switching to cleaner energy.
Tennessee also offers two tax incentives for solar panel installations: the Green Energy Property Tax Assessment and the Sales Tax Credit for Clean Energy Technology.
According to a published article by SmartNews, additionally, local energy companies like Bristol Tennessee Electric Service offer rebate programs for energy-efficient upgrades.
Tennessee residents and taxpayers can apply for federal tax credits for installing solar energy systems in their homes. A 30% tax credit is available for installations done between 2022-2032.
The credit for the Tennessee residents decreases after 2034 unless Congress renews it.
New Repayment Plan
In a published article by NPR, a new repayment plan called the SAVE plan is in the works as an alternative to sweeping student loan forgiveness proposed by President Biden.
This plan aims to gradually achieve similar results by saving borrowers thousands of dollars through small monthly payments and preventing interest from increasing their debt.
It is a new form of income-driven repayment plan that could significantly change student loan repayment in the country. Under this plan, borrowers would pay back less compared to the current plan, providing substantial loan forgiveness for undergraduate students.
Estimates suggest that the SAVE plan could cost the government between $138 billion to $361 billion over the next 10 years, compared to the one-time cost of roughly $400 billion for the forgiveness program struck down by the Supreme Court.
