As NYC Mayor Eric Adams has stated, New York City is spending an average of $387 per day to house and feed each migrant household in taxpayer-funded shelters.

The daily cost has been slowly dropping as NYC Mayor Eric Adams tries to reduce spending amid the ongoing migrant crisis, with about 64,800 migrants in city care.

According to a published article by SmartNews, the spending was $387 in February, down from $391 in November, with Mayor Eric Adams implementing cost-cutting measures to reduce expenses.

Lawmakers did not include an extension of mayoral control in their spending proposals, causing doubt about it being included in the final budget deal.

It is still possible for lawmakers to pass a mayoral control extension outside of the budget.
