The Illinois Tax Rebate

New Lenox is providing Illinois tax rebate to residents who meet specific criteria, including being 65 or older, owning a home, and having no past-due bills. The Illinois tax rebate is from a $2,217,437 fund and covers 100 percent of the village portion of property tax collected in 2023.

Residents should report their Illinois tax rebate to the IRS. They may also be eligible for a Federal Solar tax credit, aside from the Illinois tax rebate, of 30% for investments in solar panels or solar water heaters.

According to a published article by SmartNews, this credit is only available one time but could result in a reduction of up to $6,000 on your tax bill. The IRS is urging people to claim their ‘recovery’ rebates before they expire.

Two Social Security Payments

In a published article by Newsweek, some Americans will receive two Social Security payments due to specific rules around retirement and disability benefits. The typical schedule for Social Security payments varies based on your birthday, with payments going out on specific Wednesdays of the month.

This month, those born between the first and 10th received payments on Feb. 14, those born between the 11th and 20th on Feb. 21, and those born later in the month will receive payments today, Feb. 28.
