Guaranteed Income Program In The City Of El Monte Aims To Provide $500 Assistance To Participants

El Monte’s Guaranteed Income Program

The City of El Monte has recently released a study on its guaranteed income program. The said guaranteed income program is a collaboration with RAND Corporation and USC Sol Price School of Public Policy.

The pilot guaranteed income program aimed to provide $500 in assistance to 125 participants. The participants of the said guaranteed income program were mainly female heads of households with children, experiencing economic strain due to COVID-19.

According to a published article by SmartNews, preliminary findings of the study regarding the guaranteed income program show improvements in economic security, housing stability, and mental health, with participants using funds for basic needs.

The guaranteed income program has been successful in enhancing the well-being of residents, and further assessments will be conducted as it continues.
