Legal Fight to Protect Taxpayers Rebate Funds
Mayes Takes on IRS Decision
According to EA Courier, Attorney General Kris Mayes made a fight to protect taxpayers from the IRS to stop them from taxing the money families got as rebates last year. Mayes says it’s not right to tax this money because the IRS already decided that similar rebates from 17 other states shouldn’t be taxed. In papers filed on February 21, Mayes says these rebates which gave eligible families up to $750 shouldn’t be taxed based on what the IRS decided before.

Mayes Takes on IRS Over Rebate Taxation
Mayes aims to fight to protect taxpayers from the IRS from taxing rebates received by families fearing it would strain their finances. He’s using past IRS decisions to argue against taxation. Mayes hopes to spare families from unexpected taxes and retain the benefits of the rebates. The outcome of this legal battle holds significance for Arizona families potentially shielding them from financial burdens during uncertain times.
