University of Michigan Leads Poverty Alleviation Efforts

According to the Washington Examiner, a program in Ann Arbor, Michigan called Guaranteed Income to Grow Ann Arbor, will give $528 stimulus for state support of Michigan each month to 100 people who need help with money. The stimulus for state support of Michigan program is run by the University of Michigan’s Poverty Solutions team. It started giving out money in January and will continue every month on the 15th. Kristin Seefeldt who helps run the program said it’s about helping people who work hard but still struggle with money.

Assisting Self-Employed Workers in Ann Arbor

The Guaranteed Income to Grow Ann Arbor program supports self-employed individuals like small business owners and gig workers. To qualify you must live in Ann Arbor, be an adult, and earn less than 225% of the federal poverty line to get stimulus for state support of Michigan. Those already receiving government assistance like SNAP or Pell Grants likely qualify. The program aims to provide financial relief and reduce stress for individuals trying to make a living on their own demonstrating community stimulus for state support of Michigan for everyone’s success regardless of income.
