Unlocking Your California Tax Refund: Solutions and Tips If Your Stimulus Payment Is Still Missing!

The Middle-Class Tax Refund (MCTR) stands as a unique payout aimed at easing the financial strain caused by soaring costs for Californians. A lifeline for approximately 32 million taxpayers and their dependents, as reported by the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB).

Will you Qualify for MTCR?

This our the following requirements to receive the payment:

  • You filed your 2020 tax return by October 15, 2021.
  • You meet the California adjusted gross income (CA AGI) limits.
  • Were not eligible to be claimed as a dependent in the 2020 tax year
  • Was a California resident for six months or more of tax year 2020.
  • Is a California resident on the date the payment is issued.

The FTB states that while the majority of MCTR payments have been disbursed, a portion of payments is undergoing additional review and could be issued beyond the initially mentioned payment date.

Steps should be taken if you haven’t received your payment

If you think you should have received a payment but haven’t by February 14, 2023, review your bank statements to confirm its absence.

Typically, eligible individuals got their payments from October 2022 to February 2023. It’s advised to check your bank for any deposits labeled “FTB MCT REFUND MCT REFUND.”

If your deposit is missing, check your California state refund status.
