The Internal Revenue Service announced that an amount of $3,600 in Child Tax Credit will be sent to qualified recipients, but there are strict rules to follow.

The Child Tax Credit is one of the government programs that helped millions of American families during the pandemic who were facing financial challenges. Each qualified family received an amount of $3,600 and this time a new payment will be made.

In a published article in MARCA, the payment of $3,600 Child Tax Credit will not be sent until mid-February to allow due process of claims, while precise dates vary individually and can be calculated online. Moreover, there are strict rules that must be followed.

Rules for $3,600 Child Tax Credit

According to an article published in NERDWALLET, the refund or $3,600 will not be sent 100 percent cash to qualifying cash. Here are some rules that must be followed:

  • Must be able to claim the child as a dependent on tax returns.
  • The child must have lived with the claimant for half of the year.
  • Must have provided half the child’s financial support in the last year.
  • The child must hold a valid Social Security number.
  • The child must be a son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, sibling, half-sibling, step-sibling or a descendant of any of these people such as a grandchild.

Furthermore, claiming the CTC might be delayed due to the PATH ACt, but the Internal Revenue Service said that they can track the payment through “Where’s My Refund” link.
