Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, filed a lawsuit against the US Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service on Monday, alleged that tax agency whistleblowers had illegally disclosed information about his taxes.

The lawsuit, which was filed on Monday in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, focused on statements made by Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler agents of the US Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service in media interviews during the ongoing investigation by House of Representatives Republicans into the younger Biden’s taxes and business transactions.

Shapley, Ziegler, and their attorneys made a number of public accusations against Hunter Biden in more than 20 unofficial and nationally aired congressional interviews according to the lawsuit brought on Monday against the US Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service.

Shapley and Ziegler gave testimony before Congress as informants regarding probable political influence in the US Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service investigation of Hunter Biden’s taxes.

In violation of the law’s exclusions for disclosures, the US Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service employees, their representatives and others made the deliberate decision to repeatedly and publicly divulge and spread Mr. Biden’s protected tax return information, this decision is the subject of the complaint.

In addition to other relief, Biden is requesting a declaration from the US Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service, a data security plan from the organization, the submission of papers pertaining to Biden’s taxes, and $1,000 for each improper disclosure of his tax return information.

According to Shapley’s legal team, the Biden family attorneys are using this lawsuit against the US Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service as yet another cheap smear tactic to deflect attention from Hunter Biden’s own legal issues and frighten any present or potential whistleblowers.

According to a statement from Mr. Ziegler’s attorney, the Biden family lawyers’ attempts to silence him and the other US Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service employees would be unsuccessful.

Requests for comments from the US Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service were not promptly fulfilled.
