In an attempt to give more opportunities to minorities in the states by creating a new insurance degree program, the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) has signed an agreement with three big foundations.

Accredited New Insurance Degree Program Is Set To Build At Southern University

A new risk and insurance degree program will soon cater to minorities who want to pursue education in terms of risk management and insurance at Southern University. The Alliant Insurance Foundation, one of the programs’ sponsors is giving a generous initial investment of $1.4 million over a three-year period in order to build an accredited School of Insurance degree program. The foundation will work closely with the LDI Office of Consumer Advocacy and Diversity, the Spencer Educational Foundation, and Southern University to make the insurance degree program successful.

The New Insurance Degree Program Will Benefit More People

According to Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon, the state’s insurance industry does not suffice when it comes to serving some of its people and it would deemed beneficial for the targeted recipients if there were an additional insurance degree program. Meanwhile, Ron Henderson, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Consumer Advocacy and Diversity has also expressed his joy over his involvement in the new insurance degree project as for him, it will reflect on diversity and equality in the state’s insurance market.
