According to Vibes.okdiario , The USDA, through the Food and Nutrition Service, has announced the new CalFresh (SNAP) payment amounts and distribution schedule for California, starting in October 2024. Recipients will notice a modest cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increase, providing some relief but not as much as in previous years.

  • 2-person households: Up to $536
  • 3-person households: Up to $768

  • 5-person households: Up to $1,158
  • 6-person households: Up to $1,390

While the increases are modest, the COLA adjustment provides some help, especially compared to reductions seen in other states like Hawaii. For example, a family of four will see a $12 annual increase, which may not be significant but could still help with everyday expenses.

If you’re receiving CalFresh benefits, it’s important to be aware of your payment schedule so you can plan your purchases accordingly. Keep in mind that SNAP benefits cannot be used for non-food items or prepared foods in most cases, but the increased amounts could provide added support for eligible recipients.
