Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Drives ‘Life-Changing’ 900% Revenue Increase for New Orleans Businesses

According to The Sun, Taylor Swift took over New Orleans for the latest stop of her historic Eras tour, generating a tremendous economic boost that small businesses are calling “life-changing.” According to Greater New Orleans, Inc., the star’s visit brought in more revenue than even Mardi Gras and the Super Bowl combined, with hundreds of thousands of Swifties descending upon the Crescent City.

Swiftie Invasion: A City Transformed

The superstar’s presence was felt citywide as over 65,000 fans packed the Caesars Superdome for each of her three sold-out shows. Outside, the venue donned a 140-foot friendship bracelet — a nod to a popular Swiftie tradition — welcoming fans who flooded the streets in dazzling costumes inspired by Swift’s lyrics and various “Eras.”

Swift-themed decorations and merchandise could be found everywhere, and businesses leaned into the excitement with Swift-inspired food, drinks, and themed items. Street musicians even played Swift’s songs to capture the vibrant atmosphere as her fans celebrated all weekend long.

Local Businesses Experience Unprecedented Sales

Local businesses in the French Quarter saw revenue soar, with reports of increases ranging from 400% to 900% above normal weekend sales. Stoney Clover, a boutique shop, sold out of several products as fans lined up for exclusive Taylor-themed merchandise and activities like bracelet-making stations.

“It was shoulder-to-shoulder all weekend,” a Stoney Clover staffer shared. “We’ve never seen anything like this. It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Small vendors, including street artists and artisans, also experienced a windfall. Claudine, a street vendor, was moved to tears as she described the impact. “I’ve been here 48 years, and I’ve never seen anything like this. The money I made this weekend will finally allow me to take my little girl to Disney World.”

Taylor Swift’s weekend in New Orleans not only brought business to local shops but set records at Louis Armstrong International Airport, which saw 32,134 passengers pass through TSA checkpoints on Sunday — a new all-time high.

The energy extended to small businesses like NoLa Waffle in the French Quarter, which reported at least a 400% increase in revenue. “This weekend was bigger than Mardi Gras,” an employee said. “We prepared, but nothing could have prepared us for this turnout.”

Swiftie Culture Fuels Community Spirit

The streets were filled with fans trading friendship bracelets and immersing themselves in all things Swift. Meghan, a New Orleans native who sells handmade arts and pop culture-themed items, was thrilled as her Taylor-themed products sold out on the first night alone.
