New Report Highlights High Crime Rates in St. Louis and Kansas City Neighborhoods
According to KICK FM, a recent report for 2024 has put together a list of the most dangerous neighborhoods in America and two neighborhoods in Missouri have made it onto the list. According to data collected by MoneyInc. these neighborhoods are among the ten most dangerous in the country. The neighborhoods in question are Peabody-Darst-Webbe in St. Louis and South Blue Valley in Kansas City.

Missouri’s Most Dangerous Neighborhoods
St. Louis
In St. Louis, the Peabody-Darst-Webbe neighborhood has been identified as one of the most dangerous places to live. This area has a small population of 2,378 Americans. The crime rates here are extremely high. The total crime rate is over 12,000 incidents per 100,000 Americans. This means that crime happens very often in this neighborhood. The rate of violent crimes which include crimes like assault and robbery, is 3,500 per 100,000 Americans. Property crimes such as theft and vandalism occur at a rate of 9,000 per 100,000 Americans. These statistics show that violent crimes in Peabody-Darst-Webbe are 862% more common than in other places and overall crime rates are 440% higher. Even though crime rates have recently decreased in the city as a whole Americans living in this neighborhood still face a high risk of becoming victims of crime with a 1 in 8 chance.
South Blue Valley
The other Missouri neighborhood on the list is South Blue Valley in Kansas City. This neighborhood is located between Interstate 70 and the Blue River. It has a population of 1,403 Americans. The total crime rate here is 9,900 per 100,000 Americans which is also very high. The rate of violent crimes in South Blue Valley is 2,400 per 100,000 Americans and the rate of property crimes is 7,500 per 100,000 Americans. Crime rates in this neighborhood are 327% higher than the national average. The high rates of both property and violent crimes make this area particularly dangerous.
