In Independence, Kansas Americans are really worried about safety because the latest crime numbers are not good. For every 100,000 Americans, there are 92 violent crimes like fights and 347 property crimes like stealing. That means there’s a big chance, 1 in 24 that someone might steal from you or damage your property and a 1 in 91 chance of facing violent crimes like assault or worse. Even though Independence is known for its fun festival and being where Laura Ingalls Wilder lived it’s struggling with a lot of crime for its size. Americans are wondering why this is happening and what can be done to make things safer for everyone.

This makes folks in Parsons feel unsafe, making some think about leaving town fast, either by train or on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Iola, Kansas: Best for Homebuyers, But Struggles with High Crime Rates and Poverty

Even though Iola seems like a great place to buy a house in Kansas it has some serious problems. It’s one of the poorest and least liked cities in the state. With only 5,220 Americans the town has a lot of crime. Americans here have a big chance, 1 in 24, of having their stuff stolen and a 1 in 158 chance of being hurt in a violent crime like rape or murder. One of the scary stories from Iola’s past is about Viola Ard who was shot and killed while driving with her husband and sister in 1914. Her husband Roy Ard was accused of the murder but got away with it. This sad event adds to the town’s history of crime and mystery.
