Barre Town Emerges as Vermont’s Safest Haven Amidst Crime Challenges

Brattleboro and Winooski are the most dangerous cities in Vermont for 2024 based on recent crime survey of RoadSnacks. These cities have higher rates of violent and property crimes compared to others in Vermont. On the flip side, Barre Town is considered the safest place in the state. Despite Vermont being generally safe and some areas face more challenges with crime. This study shows that living in Vermont’s different cities can bring different levels of safety.

Brattleboro

With 807 total crimes Brattleboro has a rate of 6,584.5 crimes per 100K people 183.30% above the national average. It ranks #53 safest out of 54 cities in Vermont and #9,671 safest out of 9,869 cities in the US.

Winooski

Winooski reported 390 total crimes with a rate of 4,510.2 crimes per 100K people, 94.06% above the national average. It ranks #49 safest out of 54 cities in Vermont and #9,225 safest out of 9,869 cities in the US.

St. Albans

St. Albans saw 297 total crimes with a rate of 4,229.6 crimes per 100K people, 81.98% above the national average. It ranks #47 safest out of 54 cities in Vermont and #9,093 safest out of 9,869 cities in the US.

Rutland

Rutland recorded 846 total crimes with a rate of 5,334.8 crimes per 100K people, 129.54% above the national average. It ranks #50 safest out of 54 cities in Vermont and #9,485 safest out of 9,869 cities in the US.

Burlington
