Seattle Neighborhood Crime: The Not So Desirable Relocation List

Seattle is generally known as a city where individual can find their niche. According to Southwest Journal, Seattle is among the best places to live in the US because of its robust economy and diverse options for entertainment. However, some neighborhoods are not so desirable for relocation.

Underdog neighborhoods that are quite not up to Seattle’s reputation

Although Seattle is one of the top cities most Americans want to live in, Southwest Journal has come up with a list of its neighborhoods that you might want to think twice before relocating.

South Park is considered the least desirable among all 78 neighborhoods in Seattle. Residents average around $37,624 per year, and there is an unemployment rate of 7%. The list includes South Park, Roxhill, Sand Point, North Delridge, South Delridge, Northgate, Rainier Beach, University District, and Riverview. Through affordable housing programs, job training programs, and community grants, the city has already made plans to enhance these neighborhoods. Local needs and challenges are addressed by Seattle City in partnership with nonprofit organizations.

The chilling tale of the Green River Killer

The Green River Killer‘s tale from the 1980s is one of the scariest and most chilling in Seattle neighborhood crime history. For nearly two decades, Gary Ridgway, one of America’s infamous serial killers, was responsible for killing 49 women though he admitted to killing up to 71 people and dumping their bodies around the Green River. His victims were mainly young women engaged in sex work or runaways. Fortunately, in 2021, using DNA technology, Ridgway has been apprehended.
