Wilmington’s Troubling Crime Epicenter: Urgent Measures Needed
The largest city in Delaware, Wilmington, has drawn attention because it leads the state in both violent and property crimes. With a population of 70,100, the community earned the unwelcome distinction of being the most violent city in the state in 2020 after recording 31 murders.
The need for action to protect the safety and security of Wilmington’s citizens has increased due to the city’s highest violent crime rate of 1,590 per 100,000 residents.
Even though it moved up from being ranked as the fourth most dangerous in 2021, the ongoing crime rates highlight the urgency of taking urgent action.
