Abuse Revealed After Victim Confides in Friend and School Reports to Authorities

According to True Crime News, in Montgomery County, Alabama Christopher Bauer a former FBI agent and state trooper has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting a child over several years. On August 1 the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office announced that Bauer received a life sentence for sodomy and an additional 20 years for sexual abuse. This sentencing follows his conviction in June. Prosecutors revealed that Bauer began abusing the victim when she was just 5 years old and continued until she was 11. The abuse came to light when the victim told a friend who then informed her mother. The mother reported the abuse to the victim’s school which led to Bauer’s arrest by Montgomery Police on April 26, 2021.

Former FBI Agent’s Troubling Past Revealed Amidst Life Sentence for Child Abuse

Bauer’s past includes serving as both an Alabama state trooper and an FBI agent in New Orleans. After being dismissed from the FBI due to multiple allegations of sexual misconduct Bauer obtained a job with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency by using a forged letter from the FBI. The Associated Press reported that Bauer had previously been accused by a woman who worked with him at the FBI. She alleged that Bauer raped and choked her but Bauer denied these claims, saying their interactions were consensual.

Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey expressed deep disappointment that someone entrusted with enforcing the law could commit such terrible acts. He commended the victim for her courage in coming forward and speaking out despite the difficulty of her testimony. The judge and the victim’s mother both strongly condemned Bauer’s actions with the mother calling him a “monster” who had deceived everyone around him.
