Man Convicted of Murder and Weapons Charge in Disturbing Charles County Case

In a disturbing case from Charles County, 22-year-old Marvin Ernesto Funez-Martinez could face up to 43 years in prison after being found guilty of killing Marco Alexander Pulido-Castro. On July 26, Funez-Martinez was convicted of second-degree murder and illegally carrying a weapon with intent to harm. This came after a horrific event on October 29, 2023 when Pulido-Castro was found dead in his car trunk and stabbed multiple times.

Friend’s Brutal Attack Leaves Community in Shock

The sad events began when Pulido-Castro who had been hired to drive Funez-Martinez and two others to a club in Washington, D.C., was asked for more money at a gas station because his car was overheating. He managed to get everyone home despite the trouble. While Pulido-Castro was outside checking his car, Funez-Martinez took a knife from the kitchen and attacked him. The prosecution reported that Funez-Martinez stabbed Pulido-Castro 59 times causing him to run across the street before dying from his injuries.

After the attack, Funez-Martinez put Pulido-Castro’s body in the trunk of the car and hid behind his house. During the investigation, Funez-Martinez admitted to the crime and police found the victim’s blood on his hands, his sweatshirt and the knife used in the stabbing. The community is shocked by the case and Funez-Martinez will be sentenced in October.
