Gibson County Sheriff’s Office Finds Drugs and Illegal Firearm

A man from Oakland was arrested on Saturday after the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of someone shooting a firearm in the air, according to 14 News. The incident took place around 10:49 a.m. on East State Road 168. The police were alerted about a man firing a gun as cars passed by his house. When deputies arrived at the scene they found the suspect Travis Siekman 48 coming out of the house. Siekman was immediately taken into custody. The police then began their investigation into the incident. During the investigation the officers found spent shell casings and a 9mm handgun. It was discovered that Siekman was not allowed to have a handgun due to an active protective order against him. This implied that only by owning the pistol he was breaching the law. Further evidence that implicated the deputies was discovered as the inquiry went forward. At the site, they found marijuana, methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. These results piled on the accusations against Travis Siekman. Following the conclusion of the investigation Travis Siekman was brought to the Gibson County Jail. Travis Siekman is currently being prosecuted on several counts, including possession of marijuana, methamphetamines, and paraphernalia.

In addition, he faces charges of criminal irresponsibility for shooting the gun and invasion of privacy for violating the protection order.
