Former FBI Agent Christopher Bauer Sentenced to Life in Prison for Child Sexual Abuse
Bauer’s Past Misconduct and Use of Forged Documents Revealed During Trial
According to True Crime News, in Montgomery County, Alabama Christopher Bauer a former FBI agent and state trooper has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting a child over several years. On August 1 it was announced by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office that Bauer was convicted of sodomy and received a 20-year sentence for sexual abuse. The jury reached this verdict in June after hearing that Bauer had started abusing the victim when she was just 5 years old and continued until she was 11. The abuse was uncovered when the victim told a friend, who then informed her mother. The mother contacted the school, which reported the abuse to the Montgomery Police Department leading to Bauer’s arrest.
The case revealed that Bauer had previously worked as an Alabama state trooper and as an FBI agent in New Orleans. He had been fired from the FBI due to multiple sexual misconduct claims. Despite this Bauer managed to get a job with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency by using a fake letter from the FBI. Furthermore a woman who worked with Bauer at the FBI had accused him of rape and claimed he had choked her. Bauer denied these claims saying their encounters were consensual. However the evidence presented in court was strong and led to his conviction.
