Azuradee France Sentenced to 35-60 Years for Murder of 3-Year-Old Son
Past Child Abuse Allegations and Systemic Failures Exposed in Chayce Allen Case
According to True Crime News, in Detroit 33-year-old Azuradee France has been sentenced to 35 to 60 years in prison for killing her 3-year-old blind son Chayce Allen. France pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. As part of her plea deal other charges were dropped and she received credit for 767 days already served. Police discovered Chayce’s body in a freezer at France’s home during a welfare check on June 24, 2022. An autopsy revealed he died from blunt force trauma to the head and had been dead since March 2022.
France’s record with child abuse allegations was troubling. She had been arrested in 2018 and convicted of fourth-degree child abuse in 2019 which led to a probation sentence. Child Protective Services had investigated several complaints about France’s treatment of her children including her nephew and Chayce. Despite these warnings and past issues the abuse continued. At her sentencing Assistant Prosecutor Erin Wilmoth shared that Chayce’s siblings had seen France place his body in a laundry bag before putting it in the freezer. This disturbing information highlights the repeated failures to protect Chayce.

Judge Urges France to Reflect on Her Actions Amid Ongoing Failures in Child Protection Systems
Judge Tracy Green spoke directly to France, urging her to remember Chayce and her other children during her prison term to ensure that the seriousness of her actions is acknowledged. This case highlights severe failures in the systems meant to protect vulnerable children and the devastating effects these failures have on families and communities.
