South Carolina Man Arrested After Mother’s Body Found, Homicide Ruled
In a tragic turn of events a 37-year-old South Carolina man has been accused of the murder of his mother whose body was discovered in the North Fork Edisto River several months after she went missing. According to True Crime News, the victim, 56-year-old Regina Arroyo was reported missing from Barnwell County on November 30, 2023. Authorities revealed that a canoeist made a grim discovery days later when they found a body in the river later identified as Regina Arroyo. Her death was swiftly ruled a homicide by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office. After a rigorous seven-month investigation law enforcement officials identified Regina Arroyo’s son who is Terry Self Jr. as the primary suspect in her killing. According to investigators, an argument erupted between the South Carolina man and his mother at his residence after which they departed together.

South Carolina Man Allegedly Uses Ligature to Murder Mother Found in River
It is disturbingly reported that the man from South Carolina strangled his mother with a ligature before throwing her body into the river. This was the series of events that led to Terry Self Jr.’s arrest, according to the inquiry. The South Carolina man is being held in Richland County at this time on unrelated allegations of possession of a controlled drug and violating probation. But as of July 1 he has been legally charged with murder by Lexington County authorities and his bail has been refused.
